Tenterfield
About the Community
Tenterfield is a historic regional town in the New England region of northern New South Wales, located just south of the Queensland border.
Often referred to as the birthplace of the Australian federation movement, Tenterfield has a proud history and a strong sense of community. The town serves surrounding districts including Legume, Liston, Drake, Torrington, Maryland, Jennings and numerous rural communities throughout the Tenterfield Shire.
Many local families have lived in the district for generations, creating strong community ties and a deep connection to the region.
Why This Location Matters
Although located in New South Wales, Tenterfield is closely connected with Queensland’s Southern Downs.
Many families already travel between Tenterfield, Stanthorpe and Warwick for work, shopping, medical appointments and specialist services. Because of these existing connections, some families also choose to arrange funeral services through MyRest.
Tenterfield has its own cemetery and a range of local venues suitable for celebrations of life. However, there is currently no crematorium in the district. Families choosing cremation often use regional crematoria, and at MyRest we generally use Warrill Park Crematorium at Willowbank because of the exceptional care provided by their team and the value they offer to families.

Why choose Rest?
Choosing a funeral service provider is a personal decision. We believe families in should have access to an independent alternative. An alternative that doesn't rely on selling the biggest funeral package possible.
At Rest, we aim to:
- give you clear information before you make decisions
- explain the alternatives, including simple and low-cost options
- provide transparent pricing
- respect the choices you make
- encourage families to participate in the farewell
- avoid unnecessary extras
- work with you rather than dictate how things should be done
Most importantly, we don't believe there is a "standard" way to say goodbye. Your person was unique. Their farewell can be too.
What does a funeral in cost?
There isn't one answer because there isn't one type of funeral. The cost depends on what you choose, cremation or burial. It will also vary depending onwhether you have a funeral service, the type of casket or coffin, transport, cemetery charges and other arrangements.
At Rest, we separate our professional fees from costs that are paid to third parties wherever practical, so you can see what you're actually paying for.
We also believe you should be able to make decisions based on clear prices rather than being presented with an expensive package and being told that everything is necessary.

While is one of our service areas, we also care for families across New England and surrounding districts.
If you're unsure whether we can help where you live, just ask.
The funeral should belong to you, not the funeral industry.
