About the Community

Tenterfield is a historic regional town in the New England region of northern New South Wales, located just south of the Queensland border.

Often referred to as the birthplace of the Australian federation movement, Tenterfield has a proud history and a strong sense of community. The town serves surrounding districts including Legume, Liston, Drake, Torrington, Maryland, Jennings and numerous rural communities throughout the Tenterfield Shire.

Many local families have lived in the district for generations, creating strong community ties and a deep connection to the region.

Why This Location Matters

Although located in New South Wales, Tenterfield is closely connected with Queensland’s Southern Downs.

Many families already travel between Tenterfield, Stanthorpe and Warwick for work, shopping, medical appointments and specialist services. Because of these existing connections, some families also choose to arrange funeral services through MyRest.

Tenterfield has its own cemetery and a range of local venues suitable for celebrations of life. However, there is currently no crematorium in the district. Families choosing cremation often use regional crematoria, and at MyRest we generally use Warrill Park Crematorium at Willowbank because of the exceptional care provided by their team and the value they offer to families.
