Granite Belt

About the Region

The Granite Belt is one of Australia’s most distinctive rural regions, centred around Stanthorpe in Queensland’s Southern Downs.

Renowned for its cool climate, spectacular granite landscapes, vineyards, orchards and four distinct seasons, the Granite Belt is unlike anywhere else in Queensland. Winter frosts, autumn colours and occasional snowfall have helped shape both the landscape and the strong community spirit found throughout the district.

The region is home to many generations of farming families and continues to be one of Australia’s premier cool-climate food and wine destinations.

Why This Region Matters

For many people, the Granite Belt is much more than a collection of towns.

Families often identify themselves as being “from the Granite Belt” regardless of whether they live in Stanthorpe, Ballandean, Glen Aplin or one of the smaller surrounding communities.

The region has a strong sense of identity built around agriculture, wineries, orchards and community life. Those same community connections often become especially important when a family experiences the death of a loved one.

MyRest is proud to support families throughout the Granite Belt, helping them create personal farewells that reflect both the individual and the community they called home.
