New England

About the Region

New England is one of Australia’s oldest and most distinctive inland regions, stretching across the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales.

Known for its cool climate, elevated landscapes, rich grazing country and historic towns, the region is home to a number of close-knit rural communities with strong agricultural traditions. The district is characterised by rolling tablelands, granite country, national parks and a proud history that continues to shape the communities living there today.

Tenterfield is the largest centre in the northern part of the region and provides services for many surrounding villages and rural districts.

Why This Region Matters

The New England region shares a long and close relationship with Queensland’s Southern Downs.

Families regularly travel across the Queensland–New South Wales border for work, shopping, education, medical appointments and community events. Those long-established connections mean many families naturally look beyond state boundaries when planning a funeral or celebration of life.

For MyRest, the New England region represents an extension of the communities we already know well, allowing us to support families on both sides of the border while maintaining the same personalised approach to funeral care.
