About the Region
The Border Rivers region spans the Queensland–New South Wales border and is centred around the Macintyre, Dumaresq and Weir river systems. It is a region of broadacre farming, grazing properties and small country towns where community connections often extend across state boundaries.
Rather than dividing communities, the border has historically linked them. Families regularly travel between Queensland and New South Wales for work, shopping, healthcare, schooling and sporting events, creating a region with strong social and economic ties.
The largest Queensland communities include Texas, Inglewood, Yelarbon, Toobeah and Bungunya, while Yetman and Bonshaw form part of the neighbouring New South Wales communities.
